Price of land per acre has increased dramatically since 2013. Homesteading will be more successful on the western side of the state, as the eastern side is comprised mainly with tourists and retirees and there are lots of new rules and regulations not to mention the price of anything in this area is governed by the dollars tourists will spend.

The western side of the state has many mennonite and some amish communities and is definitely geared toward a homesteader.
